Fantasy Football Week 5 Monday Night Quick Hits

Below is a quick recap for some of the players who played Monday October 8.

Mark Sanchez: He’s not very good and should not be a starting quarterback in the NFL. That said, he has no weapons to throw to and he has no running game. He is quickly becoming (or already is) the scapegoat for how bad the team is, which is not fair.

Andre Johnson: I’m giving myself a pat on the back on this call as I had him ranked 19 while the consensus ranking was top 7. Even though he has elite an elite skill set, the Texans simply do not pass enough for Johnson to be an elite top 10 wide receiver on a consistent basis.

Jets Wide Receivers: I’m bucketing Jeremy Kerley and Chad Schilens together because they’re both not really good. If I had to pick one going forward I would go with Kerley, especially in a PPR.

Matt Schaub: His upside is a bye week fill-in. Like I said about Andre Johnson, the offense does not throw enough to be a reliable fantasy quarterback.

Fantasy Football Week 5 Quick Hits

Below is a quick recap for some of the players who played Sunday October 7.

Andrew Luck: 8, 18, 23, and 28. No this is not a pattern problem you encounter in Algebra but that has been Luck’s fantasy scoring progression this year. Even though I ranked him the highest at 12 last week, I didn’t see this performance coming. He’s calm, poised, and has the benefit of rejuvenated Reggie Wayne on his side. The schedule for the rest of the year is: Browns, Jets, Titans, Dolphins, Jaguars, Patriots, Bills, Lions, Titans, Texans, Chiefs and Texans. In the next 8 weeks the only defense that scares me is the Dolphins. He’s a top 10 quarterback moving forward.

Peyton Manning: I’ve watched the tape and Manning is about 80-85% of what he once was. However, that does not mean I’m down on him for the rest of the year. In fact, I believe he will continue to be a top 6 quarterback, but it will be through different means. The volume of pass attempts will always be there and he has enough talent around him to sustain this performance.

Jamaal Charles: He had another great fantasy day, which came with +30 touches. If you’re a Charles owner you have to love the value you’re getting. However, getting this many touches is bound to end up horribly. If the amount of touches does not decrease in the next week or two, I suggest selling high and getting $1.10 on the dollar; maybe Ray Rice?

Alfred Morris: I think it’s time to believe in a Shanahan running back. Simply, he looks great; he runs well between the tackles and fights through contact. He’s a top 10 running back going forward.

Antonio Gates: He’s done. He’s slow out of his break and has a hard time finding open space. It’s funny that he is being more used as a blocker than receiver. That’s why I ranked him 11 overall compared to the top 5 in ESPNs rankings. If you could get $0.60 on the dollar for him I would take that in heartbeat.

Percy Harvin: When doesn’t have migraines he can be an elite fantasy receiver. I think that joke was WAY too easy and I’m sure every fantasy analyst has said at one point in time. And you know what? This is my time. He’s an athletic freak, has a great repoire with Christian Ponder and is the main passing threat. He’s in the bottom half of a top 1o receiver, but this could be a magical breakthrough season for him.
